• "I'M INFLUENCED BY THE WAY NATURAL FORMS AND PROCESSES CAN RESULT IN COMPLEX EMERGENT SYSTEMS WHERE CHEMICAL, MATERIAL AND ECOLOGICAL FACTORS COMBINE TO CREATE SOMETHING INTRICATE AND UNPREDICTABLE. I AM FASCINATED BY NATURAL SCIENCES AND THE LIMITS OF OUR PERCEIVABLE AND MATERIAL UNIVERSE, MY WORK ATTEMPTS TO BRING THE VAST AND THE INFINITESIMAL CLOSER AND TO MAKE THE EPHEMERAL TANGIBLE."

  • JACK EDMONDS

Jack Edmonds is a Painter and Filmmaker from London. He studied Art and Moving Image in Brighton and now engages in multi-disciplinary work across the UK. He has exhibited in various group shows and film festivals over the last 5 years.

Natural forms and processes influence Jack’s practice; he used complex emergent systems where chemical, material, and ecological factors combine to create something intricate and unpredictable. With interest in the combination of science and art, Edmonds’ aim is to produce organic work with geographical properties evolving before the human eye. Jack combines natural materials like copper, iron, and sand to encourage organic forms to emerge. By layering and manipulating these materials over time, he creates a sense of a landscape, inspired by lands seen in books and on his travels.

The material layers subject to forces that mimic the relationship between land and time – by eroding, rusting, and cracking as natural compounds typically would.
