The floral motif in this painting, seen in several pieces in this series, is characterised by streaks of thin, diluted dark green oil paint as it moves down the canvas. This is an element of layering that Philip Maltman incorporates into his painterly practices; the same can be said of the lines etched into the dark paint in the top part of the canvas. The bright pink mark making and writing adds a bright and vibrant feeling to this piece. A Flower of the Mountain LXXVI is part of the 508 Gallery catalogue, and of Maltman’s series of the same title.
